ICM sponsored the 2009 Sting in the Tale Festival of Stories, a unique storytelling event that takes place annually over ten days on the south coast of England.
The art of public storytelling has grown immensely over the past decade, and this event has been at the forefront of its development in the UK. Professional storytellers, actors and musicians come from all over the world, to perform at one of the many interesting venues involved in the extensive programme.
The launch night at the Ancient Technology Centre in Cranborne Chase, Dorset, saw more than 200 guests experience the electrifying performance by storyteller Ben Haggarty and musician Sianed Jones.
Organised by EDALE – the Eastern Dorset Arts, Leisure & Entertainment Forum, the festival involved many artists, including Wei Ong, or Silent Hobo as he is known, whose enchanting illustrations featured across the promotional literature.
There is something intriguing about storytelling – people come away from the events feeling like they have witnessed something a little bit different and just a little bit special. Stories have the power to inspire, delight and mystify us all – whatever age we may be.
